BRITISH PATRIOTS
The British Patriot of today is often the loyal legionnaire who get's dressed with a prosthetic limb. He never complains. The patriot maybe the old fella who walks with a cane, stands infront of you at the post office. Now frail and slow moving he never mentions the land battle in Monte Cassino because he knows that no one could comprehend such lethal madness and horror.
British Patriots are also the forgotten warriors who went away in their millions never to return. To die agonised in strange lands for a cause they thought was just. The patriot of today is often the person next door. The neighbour or that bloke on the next street. They gave their lives for their country and asked for nothing in return.
The patriot of today maybe crippled by a disease that his government won't recognise. Having his pension cut as more British Patriots are sent to their deaths. Maybe he's working in ASDA or Tesco when last year he was storming into Iraq to free people, he would never know, from a dictator, he would never see.
Historically when British diplomacy and reason fail it's our brave warriors who we rely on to protect our shores.
January 27th 2005 is the 60th Anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.
A time of death and suffering for millions. A time when another dictator decided to torture and mutilate millions of human beings, because of their ethnic background.
A time when our brave warriors were called in to help pick up the pieces of country blighted by conflict.
These same patriots walk amongst us today.
We sleep soundly because of their sacrifices.
Lest We Forget.
