Sir, The decision to award damages to a motorcycle rider who had the misfortune to collide with a cow (report, July 13) is in my view barmy.
We have lived in rural locations for many years and have spent many holidays in Devon. If you have an ounce of sense you know that there’s a likelihood of meeting livestock on the road, as I did last Friday.
If you don’t know the simple rules when using and driving in the countryside, you shouldn’t be there.
